Nurturing Your Inner Wisdom

Kind Words

“Following the birth of my third child, I decided to do things differently and give myself some postpartum care. So I was intrigued to hear about Alma Madre’s postpartum work. We arranged some sessions and discussed how I was feeling, my recovery and anything I was worried about. Carolina is knowledgeable, thoughtful and nurturing and gave me massages, foot soaks and cooked me a delicious dhal! She always followed up with information and suggestions. With all the pressure that suddenly amounts on a mother after birth, Carolina offered serenity and space for me. I felt very looked after and I cannot recommend her services highly enough.”

“I was introduced to Carolina through our hypnobirthing teacher who first mentioned the idea of a postpartum doula. As my partner & I don’t have much family nearby I was nervous about the postpartum period and having enough support, so it sounded like a wonderful idea. Carolina immediately put me at ease with her warm, nurturing manner and we knew she would be a wonderful fit. The early weeks are all a bit of a blur but Carolina’s visits were always a very welcome pause in the week to reset myself. She held space for me to laugh/cry/vent and offered kind, gentle advice, particularly at such a vulnerable and overwhelming time. She really did look after me, to help me in turn look after our new baby. Through nourishing foods, massages, homemade tinctures and just a friendly face each week without any need to mask or hide the difficult parts. I am so grateful for her support!!”

“I was recommended to work with Caro, through another doula who was unavailable on my dates. I had done a lot of reading about pregnancy and knew that having a doula & continuity of care would increase my chances of better outcomes. I chose a package which included 2 sessions before the birth, support during the birth & 1 session afterwards. Each session was thoughtfully led by Caro, giving me the chance to focus on what was most important to me at the time. The sessions also included some practical elements such as positions for labour, how to use the rebozo & some much loved massage for me. Having Caro attend the birth was particularly useful, especially as my home birth ended up with a transfer to hospital, and eventually a caesarian. Caro was hugely supportive especially during difficult decisions & methods of induction. I am glad I worked with Caro & wholeheartedly recommend her to others.“
